Hopdaemon's "Skrimshander"

Hint of spice in this IPA from a Kent brewery I'd not heard of before.

Bath Ales' "Golden Hare"

Fruity golden with floral notes, just the way I like them.

Nick Stafford's "Taylor's Tipple"

Old-school malty taste that evoked smells from a childhood in and near bars.

Saturday 17 March 2012

The Windmill, W1S

This Young's pub specialises in pies but the range of pints is fairly meaty too. Tried a Sambrook's "Powerhouse Porter" in between shopping chores.
Only negative in a quiet pub was the new female bar staff droning on about not liking beer. Get a different job, Sarah.

London Drinker Beer and Cider Festival

I used my recently acquired CAMRA membership card to get £1 off entry to the Camden Centre and enjoyed nine tasty halves. I list them here with the description from the programme.

Dark Star's Sussex Extra Stout "The black and roasted barley malts are fermented to dryness to provide perfectly balanced full malt flavours. Kentish hops are used early and late in the boil to add a fresh clean bitterness."
Exmoor's Stag "a strong, copper-coloured premium bitter with a good malty taste and full-hopped aroma."
Hornbeam's Top Hop "full-bodied with malt appeal and ample bitterness."
Loddon's Hullabaloo "A copper coloured Best Bitter with a rich, nutty, malt balanced by the dry herby flavour of English Fuggle hops."
Red Squirrel's Conservation Bitter ""A popular, traditional bitter. Made using crystal and chocolate malt flavoured with Challenger hops to give a full-bodied, malty, session bitter."
RCH's Old Slug Porter
Rudgate's Ruby Mild "A dark premium mild. Silver medal CAMRA Winter Beer Fesitval 2002."
Steel City's Queen Anne's Revenge "This Jamaican stout has been brewed with Jamaican Sugar"
Triple FFF's Pressed Rat and Warthog "Hoppy mild with a dry roasty flavour, a good body with hints of fruit, a balanced bitterseet aftertaste."

Thornbridge "Pica Pica"

Spicy dark beer I tried in the Crown and Anchor, NW1.

Marston's "Owd Rodger"

Dark, fruity, strong offering from the
Burton-upon-Trent brewery. Very tasty.

The Goldsmiths Arms, W3

Family-friendly pub in Acton, which had a few pumps but only Sharp's "Doombar" on.

Saturday 3 March 2012

Grand Junction Arms, NW10

A good find in a landscape largely devoid of interest, John and I were directed here from The Shawl by the ex-landlord of the Redan, Joe, whom it was our good fortune to bump into.
