Got down to Putney on Friday for a beer festival at a back-street gem.

Crown and Anchor, NW1

Friendly guy behind the bar complimented me on my choice of Thornbridge's "Pica Pica" and I also congratulated myself having tasted the oatmeal stout. Had to try a Wainbridge IPA too but probably did them the wrong way round ti fully appreciate the second.

Bree Louise, NW1

CAMRA's pub by Euston station offers 17 ales. My choice today is Downtown's "Chocolate Orange Delight", fruity and sweet in a good way.

Bath ales "Barnsey"

Chocolate notes in this full-bodied dark ale. 

The Pineapple, NW5

One of Kentish Town's many great public houses, this hidden gem has friendly staff as well as great ales. Tried Cottage Brewing's "Between the posts", a dark beer with hoppy notes.

The Salusbury, NW6

Stylish place close to Queen's Park station but with only one ale: Adnams Broadside, and a clientele discussing emails, accounts and salaries.

The Castle,W11

Freezing weather didn't stop me joining a friend, Amy, for her birthday bash in West London. Shame Fuller's Front Row doesn't have the body a rugby-inspired beer promises.
